Phillies Home Run Derby

The home run derby uses an automatic pitching machine to throw 10 good pitches to each contestant. Points are scored for all fair balls hit (1-point), distance hits (2-points) and home runs (5-points). Distance and home run hits are well within the range of most hitters. The speed of the pitch, and distances change with each division. First, second and third-place winners in each category win a Phillies plaque the day of the contest. Winners will be invited to a regional final to be held later in the summer. From the regional event, winners will compete for the overall title, to be held at Citizens Bank Park. Age: 7 to 12 yrs. Rain Date: Friday, May 27, 2010 Cost: Free (pre registration is required) Please register at Doylestown Township.
