Model Train Display

The North Penn S Gaugers, was named after the North Pennsylvania Railroad which ran through Lansdale long before the Reading Railroad and SEPTA did. The club members come from towns all near the route of the North Pennsylvania Railroad, from Bethlehem to Philadelphia. “S gauge” refers to the distance between the rails, as well as the size of the trains. The trains are 1/64th the size of a real train, but you can easily see the realistic details. The display at the Library will be 30 feet by 14 feet and it will be made up of individual 2 foot x 4 foot modules which are connected end-to-end. The size of the display and the scenery on some of the modules changes from one show to the next. They can run trains having AC or DC motors, and also trains equipped with DCC, digital command (wireless remote) control. Any trains brought to the show by members will be run on the tracks. Some of the trains are more than 50 years old, running side-by-side with new trains. Non-members are encouraged to come and run their S gauge trains on the display. Friday, Feb. 5 @ 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 6 @ 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
