raspberry_teaii.jpg

BIO: A two-piece acoustic group that plays folk-rock/acoustic-pop, Raspberry Tea goes back to 1988, when three friends got together to jam. Although Raspberry Tea has always been a pick-up group and songwriters' collective more than an actual band. Over the years, many musicians have come and gone, and have played and recorded their original material with whoever happened to be available from our group of friends. Raspberry Tea has been a duo, a trio, a quartet, a quintet, etc. Raspberry Tea still places great emphasis on original songs and the DIY ethic of using whoever/whatever is at hand. Show up at one of their gigs with an instrument, and you may very well be recruited to play. The duo recently released their first official CD on their independent Sensurround Records label, titled “Just Like That!”

The members of Beaufort hail from and around the Philadelphia, PA area. Original members Jay Popky and Alan Sigman met in the campgrounds of the Philadelphia Folk Festival in August of 1998 and have been jamming ever since.
